Brittany A Johnson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience working with adults and children. Brittany spent the early part of her career working with adults who lived with severe and persistent disorders such as schizophrenia and bi-polar. During her internship Brittany begin working with adolescents involved in the Juvenile Justice system. From there Brittany spent the next 5 years learning and working with children and their families. Brittany also begin to study trauma and take several trauma-informed and trauma-based trainings including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). It was during that time that Brittany also begin working with adults and focusing her work and attention on adults who experienced trauma in their childhood and the impacts it has on their parenting and relationships. During Brittany’s years working for an agency she began developing and training other therapist and community members on trauma based and skills-based interventions.
Brittany left the agency and begin practicing full time as an independent therapist. Since that time Brittany has became certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and uses it daily with her clients who experience anxiety and anxiety-based trauma.
Part of Brittany’s approach to therapy is to build a trusting and working relationship by listening to both the clients verbal and nonverbal language. From there Brittany works to help clients identify or develop their goals and helps to clear out everything that keeps a person from living their desired life.
